As a project manager for EU funded research projects, you are responsible for project management of multiple complex internationally funded projects. In many instances this would require the successful candidate to work on several and separate projects simultaneously. The main duties are: management of assigned (EU) projects by ensuring they are executed at the highest possible quality, while adhering to the agreed contracts, the needs and requirements of the funding agencies and EU policies, in close collaboration with the scientific project leader and other scientific team members, as well as other support staff. The project manager will become a member of the Research Support Office team. You report directly to the Head of Research Office and you will work closely with the Post-Award coordinator. Next to that, you work closely with the scientific project leader and the support staff at the division level. You will have a roaming desk and you will be partially embedded in the divisions where the projects are running.
The Research Office is part of the Corporate Staff of the University Medical Center Utrecht. The Research Office focuses on strategic advice on development, implementation and evaluation of science policy within UMC Utrecht. We address the local, regional, national and international positioning of the UMC Utrecht research. One of our tasks is to expand the network, as well as increase the knowledge base by training of researchers and support staff. By this, we contribute to UMC Utrecht's mission of stimulating high-quality research, supporting excellent researchers and increasing the recruitment capacity of UMC Utrecht. Therefore, advising and supporting researchers in finding innovation and valorization opportunities and supporting the development of grant applications belong to the tasks of the Research Office.
We are looking for a colleague with an excellent ability to multitask and solve problems, who is pro-active and can judge independently, enjoys working in a team, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, can work in a multicultural environment and can establish harmonious working in (in- and extern) relationships, has good attention to detail and is structured and well-organised. Good oral and written command of English is required. Familiarity and experience with laws and regulations concerning clinical trials is recommended. You have a thorough knowledge of European funded research projects and you are well acquainted with the international funding landscape. You have experience in project management of complex international projects. In addition, you have knowledge and experience in the field of financial and legal aspects of EU Horizon 2020 grant projects. In your work, you show initiative, are service-oriented, an efficient communicator and able to establish and maintain interpersonal relations. You have excellent writing skills in both English and Dutch. You are able to prioritize and focus on results. You are flexible and have good organizational skills.
The maximum salary for this position (80-100%) is € 4.216,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 1 year.
In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses, career opportunities and personal budget. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).
The appointment is a temporary appointment, starting with a one year contract (Art.2.4.3. TC)
